- Carolyn Fordham
Cooper Quiett
Mrs. Carolyn C. Quiett, 66, of 1910 Flintshire Court, Titusville, FL, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at her home in Titusville, FL. She was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Orlando, FL, to the late Russell and Mildred Fordham. Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother, and for 5 years she and her husband, Frank, owned and operated QC Engraving, a family-run business in Clemmons specializing in meeting the engraving needs of the community. Prior to this, she owned and operated The Gettin’ Place, a handmade crafts store in Clemmons for 3 years. While living in Clemmons from 1976-1989, she was an active member of Clemmons Moravian Church and later Center Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Frank Quiett of Titusville, FL; daughter Deana Trimm of Enterprise, AL; son Michael Cooper of Titusville, FL; son Keith Cooper of Raleigh, NC; son Kevin Cooper of Tampa, FL; stepson Stephen Quiett of Fate, Texas; stepson Jeffrey Quiett of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and 11 grandchildren. Carolyn didn’t let cancer slow her down and remained active in both her community and church until recently. She had a green thumb and was constantly working in the yard, was involved with many different crafts, and participated in several committees at First Baptist Church of Mims. Her two priorities in life were her faith in God and her family. A special thanks to Hospice of St. Frances, Titusville, FL, for its care of Carolyn during her long bout with lung cancer. J. Clifford Nelson
Mr. J. Clifford Nelson, 92, of Clemmons died Friday, March 14, 2008, at the Oaks at Forsyth. Mr. Nelson was born in Forsyth County to Simeon Green and Betty Clinard Nelson. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Clemmons and a retiree of Hanes Knitwear. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife Fallie Byerly Nelson. He is survived by a son James Edward Nelson and wife Kathy of Clemmons; a daughter Kay Nelson Shoaf and husband Larry of Lexington; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted Monday, March 17, at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Madeline Gray officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the Oaks for their loving care of Mr. Nelson. Ruth W. “Nana” Clauson
Mrs. Ruth W. “Nana” Clauson, 87, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., passed away Friday, March 14, 2008, at her home. She was born March 30, 1920, in Alleghany County, Pa., to the late Roy Beacum and Dessie Brown Wilson. Mrs. Clauson was a member of Edgewood Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh and attended Centenary United Methodist Church of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Clauson was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She loved each of them dearly and enjoyed being a homemaker for them. Surviving are her beloved husband of 67 years, Elwood Victor Clauson; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen C. and Gary Leigh Bricker of Advance; two grandsons, Scott Gary Bricker and wife Susan of Yadkinville and Leigh Clauson Bricker and wife Kathy of North Wilkesboro; and two beloved great-granddaughters, Sarah Ruth Bricker and Emma Grace Bricker, both of Yadkinville. A memorial service was conducted Sunday, March 16, at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Osterberg officiating. Interment will be in Pittsburgh at a later date.

Lillian Ruby Faircloth
Mrs. Lillian Ruby Faircloth, 71, of Lewisville passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born Sept. 30, 1926, to the late William Joseph and Eva Black. Mrs. Faircloth was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and was retired from Hanes Knit Wear after 38 years and Hamrick’ s after 17 years. Mrs. Faircloth is survived by her husband, Ervin A. Faircloth; a son, Dwight A. Faircloth, and wife Kathy; a brother, Bobby Joe Black, and his wife, Kay; sisters-in-law Mrs. Mary Wike and Mrs. Jane Black; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, March 14, at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Thomas Albert officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, 8955 Concord Church Road, Lewisville, NC 27023, for the family of Mrs. Faircloth. Vogler and Sons Clemmons are serving the Faircloth family.

Henry E. Thomas
Henry E. Thomas died peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at his home in Clemmons. He grew up in Gary, Ind., and then served with honor in the U.S. Army during World War II. He landed in LaHavre, France, on Nov. 3, 1944, and fought in France, Belgium and Germany until he was wounded on the Rhine River on March 6, 1945, after the Battle of the Bulge. He attained the rank of master sergeant and his unit was awarded the Silver Star for Valor. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Mich., after a career of 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Price Thomas; his daughter, Lynne Browning, and her husband, Richard of Taylor, Mich.; his sons, Philip Thomas of Seattle, Wash., and Mark Thomas and his wife, Tonnie, of Clemmons; and his brother, Charles Thomas of Gary. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial visitation was held Saturday, March 15, at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will follow at a later date.
