Jeffrey “Scott” Graham
Mr. Jeffrey “Scott” Graham, 45, passed away on February 1, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1963 in Ankara, Turkey to William W. and Larua Le Graham. Scott was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church and was owner of J.S. Graham Construction Company, Inc. He was an avid golfer and coached his sons little league teams. Scott was a passionate fan of Wake Forest sports and Dale Earnhardt and he had a fondness for the 10th hole at Tanglewood Championship Course and traveling. He truly loved life to the fullest. Scott is survived by his son, Justin Lee Graham of Winston-Salem; a stepson, Jason Cortright of New Jersey; his mother Larua Le Modlinski and husband Jules of Winston-Salem; his father, William W. Graham and wife Peggy of Florida; two sisters, Lisa Marie Graham and Dawn Renee Wick and husband Joe both of Winston-Salem; a half sister, Joyce Shahboz and husband Marc of Florida; nieces and nephew`, Heather Leigh Graham, David Michael Graham, Lain Shahboz, and Gwen Shahboz. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at 6:30 pm, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Clemmons United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Thore and the Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating. Kenneth Cook
“Kasey” Haynes
Mr. Kenneth Cook “Kasey” Haynes, 86, of the Arcadia Community, Davidson County, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray Surratt officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Haynes was born November 12, 1922 in Lewisville, Rt 1, (West Bend), the son of Gladys Jones Haynes and James F. Haynes. He graduated from Lewisville High School and attended Mars Hill Junior College for two years, where he played on the Varsity Basketball Team. He joined the Army Air Corp on July 6, 1942. During his three years of service, he attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College in Pennsylvania as a cadet and served two years in maintenance and servicing armaments on fighter planes at Buckley Field in Colorado. He worked as a tool and die maker at Western Electric in Winston-Salem until his retirement in 1978. Kenneth was an active member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where he taught the Men’ s Bible Class for many years. His interests were quail hunting, training his bird dogs, gardening, his highly talented gunsmithing, and watching his “Carolina Blue.” He will be well remembered for his gentle spirit, calm disposition, and he will be remembered by his hunting buddies. His wife, the former Lila Peake of Columbia, SC, preceded him in death in 2004. He is survived by his brother, Lawrence Haynes, and wife, Wilma of East Bend; and two sisters, Mary Haynes Dalton of Winston-Salem, and Anne Haynes Jenkins, and husband, Jim, of Raleigh. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Memorials may be made to Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 1082 Community Road, Lexington NC 27295. The family wishes to thank the congregation of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church for their love and support during his illness; and the staff of Vienna Villages Retirement Community for their care and many kindnesses. Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Emma Dimmette
Emma Dimmette passed away on January 25, 2009, at the Clemmons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Wilkes County to John Brown and Nancy Blevins and had made her home in Winston-Salem since 1950. Mrs. Dimmette was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and was retired from North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Lillie Little and her husband, Billy Ray of Sunset Beach, NC and Callie McHone of Greensboro, NC; eight grand-children; eleven great grand-children; and two great-great grand-children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Rachael Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6388 White Plains Road, Roaring River, NC 28669 or Northwest Baptist Church, 407 Petree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to the charity of one’ s choice.
Lester Otis Beck
Lester Otis Beck, 66, of Clemmons, died Monday, February 2, 2009, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Beck was born in Burke County, NC, June 13, 1942 to Otis S. and Mary Pritchard Beck. He was preceded in death by his father and by a son, Jeffery Beck. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Juanita Andrews Beck of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kim Beck, one daughter-in-law, Dawn Beck and special friend Ken, two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Cindy McCraw and Robbie and Debbie McCraw, three grandsons, Drew McCraw, Kevin Beck and Will McCraw and four granddaughters, Mandi McCraw, Tara Beck, Caitlin Beck and Hayden McCraw, his mother, and one sister, Sara Mae Epps. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Friends Baptist Church in Clemmons. A graveside service was held at the Crab Creek Primitive Bawptist Church Cemetery in Ennice, NC. Salem Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
