Lena Rowe Jackson
Mrs. Lena Rowe Jackson, 87 of Winston-Salem died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Brookridge Retirement Home.
Mrs. Jackson was born October 12, 1920 in Hertford County a daughter of the late W. Mercer Rowe and the late Clarice Williford Rowe. She was a 1940 graduate of Peace College, a homemaker and a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She served her Lord faithfully as a minister’s wife for 53 years
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Irby Bruce Jackson, Sr., a son Robert C. Jackson, and a brother Robert L Rowe
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Thomas and husband Buck, son Bruce Jackson and wife VaLinda, brother, W. Mercer Rowe, Jr. grandchildren, Jill Jackson Wheeler, Joe Jackson, Amy Thomas, Carly Thomas and Tyler Thomas and a great-grandson Jackson Wheeler
A memorial service was conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Brookridge Retirement Home. Interment followed at Middleburg Cemetery, near Henderson.

Lieuteene Marion Harper
Mr. Lieuteene Marion Harper, 97, of Clemmons, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Forsyth Hospital after a short illness. He was born Aug. 2, 1910, on Styers Ferry Road in Forsyth County, the third of 11 children to Andrew Blaine Harper Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Harper. Mr. Harper was a graduate of Clemmons High School, Class of 1929. He was married to Mary Ida Brewer from 1935 until her death in 2001. For his entire working life, he worked at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. from 1929 until he retired in 1973 as a factory manager. Mr. Harper was a charter member of Clemmons Civic Club and also served as its president. He also helped to organize the Clemmons Fire Department and was its first president. He was a longtime member of Centenary Methodist Church on Hampton Road in Clemmons and held a number of offices in the church, including head usher for 40 years. Mr. Harper enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and skeet shooting as a young man. He coached the first Little League baseball game in Clemmons. He also was an avid ACC basketball fan and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, including his never to be forgotten trip to the 1934 World Series in St. Louis. Mr. Harper is survived by a daughter, Lynn Marion Harper Price and son-in-law Basil Price of Wilmington, Del.; a son, Stephen Brewer Harper of Greenville; three grandchildren, Mary Lynn Price Brooks and husband, Ian Brooks of Baltimore, Md., Lisa Catherine Price Green and husband, Steve Green of Falls Church, Va., and Michael Kenneth Price and wife Kelly Larkins Price of Easton, Pa.; and seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Gracie, Timothy and Luke Brooks, Andrew and Eleanor Green, and Katryna Price. He is also survived by his youngest sister, Helen Irene Harper Isaacs of Winston-Salem; 13 nieces and nephews on the Harper and Brewer sides of the family; and special neighbors, Travis and Lavelle Howard and Dan and Kathy Monroe of Clemmons. The funeral service was conducted Jan. 28, at Centenary Methodist Church in Clemmons by the Revs. Madeline Gray and Frank Jarvis. Burial followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centenary Methodist Church, 5280 Hampton Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 and to the Harper Cemetery Fund. The Harper family would also like to thank all of his caregivers, who spent lots of time with Mr. Harper for the past four years, Linda Hemphill, Stacy Alston, Janet Norton-Dennis, Lorna Kennedy, Connie Ellison, and Pat Simpson.
Hazel Tesh Huff
Mrs. Hazel Tesh Huff of Winston-Salem, 90, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 30, 1917, in Forsyth County to the late Hugh Lindsay and Addie Sink Tesh. Mrs. Huff was of the Baptist faith and retired from Western Electric with 30 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and enjoyed gardening and working with flowers in her spare time. Preceding her in death were her husband, John Simmeon Huff; son-in-law James Pickard; brothers Ed, Marvin, Howard, Ralph and Joe Tesh; and sisters Mary and Edna. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Huff Pickard of Winston-Salem; son Donald (Jane) Huff of Mocksville; grandsons Keith (Mary Jane) Pickard of Lewisville, Michael (Shelly) Pickard of Winston-Salem and Kevin (Cindy) Huff of Dacula, Ga.; two granddaughters, Donna (David) Mickey of Advance and Sherri (Jamie) Brown of Wilmington; and great-grandchildren Daniel Pickard, Emma Gordon, Ellis, Harrison, Marshall, and Olivia Huff and Savannah Brown. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Henry May officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Kathryn Walker Parker
Mrs. Kathryn Walker Parker, a loving wife, mother and friend, 71, of Clemmons, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1936, in Caldwell County to Jack Leo and Virginia Harris Walker. Mrs. Parker loved to play the piano. She was also a star basketball player for Happy Valley High School in Lenoir, having her No. 13 jersey retired in 1954. Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Leo Walker. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Kenneth Glenn Parker; three daughters, Kim Parker, Kathy Parker Burns and husband Don and Bridget Parker Hill and husband Tim; a sister, Virginia Walker; and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Walker. The funeral service was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, with Pastor Mike Sirianni officiating. Entombment followed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
