Mr. Robert Loy Hammaker, 75, went to meet Jesus after “He fought the good fight, ran the race, and finished the course.” on Friday, October 24, 2008. He was born September 5, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA to Joseph Henry Hammaker and Esther Mae Garverich Hammaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eva Buchenauer Hammaker, and his children: daughter, Donna (Dave) Gronewoller; sons, Douglas (Melicent) and Jeffrey (Kim) Hammaker; grandchildren, Heather (Ashley) Waldridge, Joshua (fianc?e, Kayla Speas), Luke, Hannah, Jordan, Megan, Alyssa, and Joseph Hammaker, Brendyn and Nathan Gronewoller; great-grandchildren, Tobias and Truett Waldridge; step-grandchildren, Brian (Morgan) and Keith (Suzanna) Gronewoller, Ashley (Davey) Iverson; step-great-grandchildren, Peyton, Parker, Chloe, Julia and Daniel Gronewoller, and Dawson Iverson and numerous nieces and nephews. Loy (as he was best known by family) was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Bob Jr.; sister, Evelyn Probeck; and brother, Harold Hammaker. Loy was a member of Fraternity Church of the Brethren, where he was chairman of the Trustees for two terms and was also a President of the Dependable Sunday School Class. Loy earned his Eagle Scout award. He was an assistant Scout Master and then Scout Master at Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren in Harrisburg, PA. Loy was employed by AMP, Inc. for 43 years before retirement. He started as an assembler, and through hands on hard work and perseverance, over the years worked his way to Design Engineer. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Patricia Lorraine Korolevich Tuten JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Patricia Lorraine Korolevich Tuten, 47, of Jacksonville, FL, and formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 18, 2008, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Patti was born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 24, 1961, and lived in New York City and Acapulco, Mexico before moving with her family to Silver Spring, MD in 1968. She was a graduate of Sherwood High School and the University of Maryland. Patti’ s professional career as a banker took her to the Washington, DC area; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; and Winston-Salem, NC. She was most recently a Strategic Staffing Manager in the Human Resources Group of Wachovia Corporation in Winston-Salem. Patti lived in Winston-Salem in 1993-2003, and then moved to Jacksonville, FL. Patti is survived by her husband, Steven; her mother, Margarita Landivar of Leesburg, FL; her father, Jorge Korolevich of Miami, FL; her sisters, Sandra Spence of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Catherine Seivers (John) of Winston-Salem, NC; her brother, Charles Korolevich (Beth) of Frederick, MD; four nieces, Lauren, Kristen, Ashlyn and Brianna; and a nephew, Brandon. Patti was predeceased by her brother, Jorge Korolevich, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Jorge Landivar and Laura Mantilla Landivar; and her paternal grandparents, Vladimir Korolevich and Elena DiDonato Korolevich. A Memorial Mass was conducted Saturday, November 8, 2008, at at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4820 Kinnamon Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Inurnment was in the Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. Margaret Kirkman Vanhoy Mrs. Margaret Kirkman Vanhoy, 95, of Clemmons, formerly of Kernersville, has, after 59 years, gone to join her husband with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2008. She was born in Forsyth County to the late William Lee and Addie Hedgecock Kirkman on December 23, 1912. Mrs. Vanhoy is a Last Charter Member of Kerwin Baptist Church, which she attended faithfully while her health permitted. She was known for her lovely knitting and needlework. Mrs. Vanhoy was preceded in death by her husband, Aurelius Edward “Buck” Vanhoy and her nine siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Yountz and husband, Jerry of Arcadia; three grandchildren, Terrie Lewis of Morehead City, Kathy Sink and husband, Danny of Midway, and Gerri Hoyle and husband, Ed of Reedy Creek; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Frances Arnold. A Funeral Service was conducted Monday at Kerwin Baptist Church with the Dr. Joe Myers officiating. Burial followed at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery. Elmer Franklin Wood Mr. Elmer Franklin Wood, 69, passed away October 25, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Wood was born in Summers County to the late Alva and Elva Lowry Wood on September 2, 1939. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Lewisville. Mr. Wood retired from McLean Trucking with 26 years of service and also Grass America with 18 years of service. Mr. Wood was an Army veteran. He was active in the Jonestown Civic Club where he served as a past Vice President and President. Mr. Wood was a true Mountaineer fan who was proud of his home state of West Virginia. He enjoyed singing gospel music, playing horse shoes, and bowling. Mr. Wood will always be remembered for his positive attitude and his strong faith in God, which gave him the strength and courage in his battle of cancer. He never knew a stranger and will be loved and missed by many. Mr. Wood is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Norma Wood of the home; three children, Terry Bishop and husband, Keith of Mooresville; Patricia Draughon of Wilmington; and Greg Ellison of Clemmons; five grandchildren, Britton and Grayson Bishop; Hunter and Breanna Ellison; and Dusty Draughon; three sisters, Jean Garten of Forest Hill, WV, Betty Smith of Moscow, ID; and Ruby Bradley of Pfafftown; a brother, Al Wood of Bloomfields Hill, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Clay Roosevelt Beeson Sr. Mr. Clay Roosevelt Beeson, Sr., 78, of Clemmons, died Wednesday, October 23, 2008. He was born November 4, 1929 in Forsyth County to Hugh R. and Bertha B. Beeson. Clay retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 37 years of service as Supervisor of #64 Case and Drying and Pony Express after 5 years of service. He was a 50 year member of The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #466 in Winston-Salem. Clay always enjoyed his hours during the day visiting with friends at the Clemmons Waffle House, and his best friend Richard LaRue at the Sudz Shoppe Car Wash in Clemmons. Clay lived at the Western Villa Apartments for 28 years with his friends and owners Doug and Norma Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents. Clay is survived by his two sons, Clay R. Beeson, Jr. (June) of Clemmons and Randy D. Beeson (Cindy) of Chesterfield, VA and one daughter Lynne C. Enneking (David) of Yorktown, VA; six grandchildren, Angela Beeson Benner, Tammy Beeson Moore, Bradley Beeson, Brian Beeson, Michael Enneking, and Kimberly Enneking; two great-grandchildren, Zackary Ryan Moore and Camrynn Alexa Benner; two sisters, Betty Sue Smith and JoAnn Miller both of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews and former wife and friend, Barbara H. Lawson of Grafton, VA. The funeral service wasconducted Sunday, October 26 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Tracy Webb officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem. Roger Ray Floyd Mr. Roger Ray Floyd, 75, passed away October 22, 2008 at Kate B Hospice in Winston Salem. Roger was a veteran of the US Army. He was a lifetime member of the PGA since 1964 and was the pro at Tanglewood in 1972. He is survived by his twin daughters, Marsha Rae Floyd (partner Phyllis Wilcox) of Lewisville NC, and Michelle Floyd Wood (husband, Randy) of Clemmons NC; one son, Randy Floyd of Clemmons NC; several grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. The family will have a Private Service and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Kate B Hospice, 101 Hospice Lane, WS, NC 27103. Earl Michael Henderson Earl Michael Henderson, 59, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 15, 1949 in Surry County, the son of the late, Earl and Anna Henderson. For 35 years Mike traveled around North Carolina and Virginia as a Whole Sale Parts Representative; the last few years have been a joy to him working for Modern Automotive. He loved working on cars, traveling, and attending car shows with his family. Sissy, Mike’ s beloved Chihuahua, also stayed at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home with the family, right by his side. Mike was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife Rhonda; two daughters Michaela Henderson of the home and Misty Henderson of Boonville; a granddaughter Shayla Henderson of Boonville; a brother Johnny Henderson and wife Jewell of Reidsville; a devoted sister-in-law Alicia Drake of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; a special friend Debbie Beck of Winston-Salem; and six nieces. A memorial service was conducted Thursday, Oct. 23 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplin Joanne Henley officiating. Robert Wayne “RW” Fearrington Robert Wayne “RW” Fearrington, 56, of Lewisville passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born on May 11, 1952 in Forsyth County to the late Robert Baxter and Loraine Spainhour Fearington. He was married in June 1975 to the late Jeanie Arter Fearrington who passed away in 1987. Wayne served his country that he loved so dear in the U.S Air Force. He returned to Winston-Salem in 1985 where he was manager of Sherwood Barbecue. He spent countless hours working in the restaurant and catering business serving his many customers. After leaving the restaurant business, he worked as a security guard at the Nissen Building and BP Gas Station on Robinhood Rd. as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his brother, Gary (Kathy) Fearrington of Lewisville; sisters, Gail Myers of East Bend, and Diane Davis of Linwood. He also leaves behind his nieces whom he was so proud of and dearly loved and cherished, Stacy Fearrington of Richmond, VA, Lori (Jeremy) Black of East Bend, Angie Fearrington (fiance’ Isaac) of Lewsiville, Jamie (Teman) Willard, Crystal Robins and Michelle Davis. Wayne is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bonnie Langford of Mt. Home, Idaho. Other survivors are special friends, Ted and Maria Baron, Mamaw and special niece, Heidi Steffan. A graveside service with military rites was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem with the Rev. Judson J. Milam officiating.
