Obituaries for August 28, 2008

- Dr. William Charles Baldwin
On the morning of Sunday, August 10, 2008 Dr. William Charles Baldwin, known to some as “Bill” transitioned from this realm to be with God.
Born on November 12, 1928 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Leonard and Rhoda Baldwin, he spent much of his early years in an orphanage after the passing of his mother. Reunited with his father as a young man, Bill was reared in LaGrange (Chicago), Illinois by his father and stepmother, Pinkie L. Baldwin.
Know to his high school classmates as an All-State football hero, “Chuck” (as he was called at home) joined the workforce while in school and eventually enlisted in the United States Army.
While traveling on leave from the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC to Chicago, he met the love of his life, Anita B. Seegars, in Winston-Salem, NC. They married August 10, 1952 and almost one year later; this union was blessed with one daughter, Charnita Kay.
Elder Baldwin was primarily recognized as the Overseer of Sacred Hour Ministries, Inc. and Dove Ministries, both presently of Clemmons, NC. His life-long focus was the oversight and financial support of the legacy given to his wife.
After beginning a ministry in their in-home Bible Study in September 1974, together, the Baldwin’s saw the charge grow and prosper. They remained in the Washington, DC area until moving to the Winston-Salem vicinity in 1988 under an Abrahmic directive from God. Throughout their ministerial careers, the Baldwin’s watched many spiritual sons and daughters rise to their own places in God to become active ministers in the Body of Christ.
He leaves to grieve their temporary separation his loving and equally devoted wife, Anita; their daughter, Charnita Kay Baldwin; 7 grandchildren, William, II, Jason Hammiel, Latoya Williams, Y’Shica Blackwell, Chavey Baldwin, Alonzo Baldwin and Ashley Baldwin; 5 great-grandchildren, Destiny and Jalen Hammiel, Kamaria and Nicholas Williams, and Malik Charles Baldwin; a sister and nephew from Chicago, Keturah and Brennan Baldwin; a cousin, James Hammock; many other relatives, friends, and innumerable spiritual sons and daughters.
A funeral service of celebration will be held at 11am Saturday, August 23, 2008 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Jones of Glory Church, Charlotte, NC officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 7pm until 9pm on Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Chapel.
In accordance with his life-long objective, in honor of his memory, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to: Dove Ministries School of Discipleship/Prayer Tower PO Box 1897, Clemmons, NC 27012.
