Heather Hamby weds Jeffery Mags

- Heather Danielle Hamby and Jeffery David Maggs, both of Greensboro, were married Saturday, May 12 at First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro.
Rev. David Partington officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Donald and Betsy Hamby of Winston-Salem and LuAnn Hamby and Herbert Longworth of Lewisville. She graduated from West Forsyth High School in 1999 and received her bachelor of science degree in child and adolescent development in 2003 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is a professional performer, working with various theatrical companies through North Carolina and the surrounding states.
The groom is the son of David Maggs and Peggy and Leon Isome of Eden, NY. He received his bachelor of music degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and his master’s of music degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is also a professional singer, having recently performed a lead role with the Greensboro Opera Company.
Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a white strapless empress taffeta gown. The delicate beading accented the asymmetric waistline. The gown also featured a corset back, a court length train, and rosettes. She wore a full length veil sprinkled with tiny stones and carried a bouquet of white Phalaenopsis orchids, peonies, and garden roses.
Linnea Coon of Graham was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Mark of Winston-Salem and Dawn Davenport of Richmond, Va. Julia Moll, the groom’s niece, was the junior bridesmaid.
Bryan Maggs, the groom’s brother, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jeffrey Hamby and Joseph Hamby, the bride’s brothers. Drew Maggs, the groom’s godson, was the junior groomsman. Jody Moll, the groom’s nephew, was the honor escort.
Kierra, Haley and Ashlyn Maggs, the groom’s nieces, and Mackenzie Vestal, the bride’s cousin, were the flower girls. Corbin Maggs was the ring bearer.
A program of wedding music was provided by Patrick Murphy, organist and pianist; Liane Elias, soprano; and Robert Wells, baritone.
A reception at Cafe Europa in downtown Greensboro, where the newlyweds had their first date, followed the ceremony.
After a wedding trip to Paris, the couple will live in New York CIty.
Several showers and parties were hosted in honor of the couple.
A couples shower was hosted in Buffalo, NY by the groom’s mother; grandmother, Joyce Trask; and sister-in-law, Kelly Maggs.
A couples shower was hosted in Greensboro by the First Presbyterian Church Choir.
A lingerie shower and bachelorette party in Greensboro was given by the bridesmaids.
A bridal shower was hosted at Lewisville Baptist church by the bride’s mother, stepmother, and grandmother, Peggy Vestal.
Close family and friends were invited to a post-wedding brunch given by the new Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Maggs on May 13 at their home in Greensboro in thanks for all who have supported them throughout their lives and in celebration of Mother’s Day.
