The couple had their first date at the Harvester Dance in Fort Wayne, Ind. The military led them to various places of residence, giving them a variety of places to call home. Piedmont Airlines brought the Baskin family to Winston-Salem in 1959. They moved to Clemmons (known as “the country” at that time) in 1964, and the entire family has called Clemmons home ever since. They have five children, Michael, Jennifer, Tim, Tom and Jeanine; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Their children would like to thank them for “their patience through the attainment of driver’s licenses, fender benders (and more), seemingly endless road trips while on vacation (along with endless requests to stop and eat or use the bathroom), eating them out of house and home (although no one ever ate the last cookie or drank the last soda), threats to kill each other, the tossing of spiders into the showers, unplanned hair cuts, maimed transmissions, and an occasional argument or two. We are grateful for their examples of unconditional love, limitless patience, guidance to our Lord and Savior, determination and perseverance as we travel down the road called life. You are the best and we love you both.” |
