Horton and Apple marry Jan. 20

- Claire Blythe Horton of Spartanburg, SC and Derrick Van Apple of Columbia, SC were married Saturday, January 20 at Washington Street Methodist Church in Columbia.
Rev. Dr. Mike Alexander officiated at the 6 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Sherri Horton of Spartanburg. Her maternal grandparents are Bill and Margaret Rountree of Clemmons. Her paternal grandparents are Anne Horton Palmer of Salisbury and the late Reid Horton. She received her bachelor of science degree in biology from Erskine College. She is a recent graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a masters of science degree in rehabilitative science, occupational therapy. She is employed with Sports Plus in Charleston, SC.
The groom is the son of Jim and Gloria Apple of Columbia. His maternal grandparents are Charles and Helen Van Hoome of Lexington. His paternal grandparents are Margaret Apple of Kernersville and the late J.B. Apple. He received his bachelor of science in business administration degree with an emphasis in accounting from Charleston Southern University. He plans to continue his studies in accountancy.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her father.
Emily Hill of Charleston was the maid of honor. Emily Apple of Columbia, the groom’s sister, was the bridesmaid.
The groom’s father served as best man. Conor Horton of Myrtle Beach, SC, the bride’s brother, was the groomsman. Ushers were the groom’s cousins, Blake Shahnizadeh, Jake Apple and Charlie Apple, all of Kernersville.
