The West Forsyth varsity baseball team prefers the latter. Virtually unstoppable through its first 21 games, West has stumbled of late, losing three games to teams in the bottom-half of the Central Piedmont Conference standings. A nine-inning win over East Rowan in late April earned the Titans this year’s Central Piedmont Conference regular season championship. Since then, however, the Titans have suffered one loss to South Rowan and two to Davie County, including last Friday’s 13-10 setback in the semifinals of the CPC tournament. The three-game slide has dropped their overall record to 19-5. After weathering a blistering start by Davie County in conference tournament play, West bounced back to tie the game at 7-7 on a two-run homer by Greg Holt in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Titans then took a 10-7 lead in the sixth when Matt Sapp launched a two-out, three-run homer to left.
