Titans pound East Rowan in CPC play

“Absolutely huge.”
That was the succinct assessment West Forsyth coach Kevin Baity provided after last week’s win over East Rowan.
Needing a victory to stay in the hunt for second place in the Central Piedmont Conference varsity softball standings, the Titans dominated a talented East team from start to finish and walked away with an 8-3 victory.
The victory, along with a two-game sweep over South Rowan last Friday, upped West’s league record to 7-4, just one-half game behind Davie County. With a win against Davie on Tuesday night, the Titans will strengthen their chances of a second-place finish and ensure themselves of at least one state playoff game at home. North Davidson, unbeaten thus far, has locked up the CPC’s top spot.
“Our level of maturity has improved since the first game against East (a 2-1 West loss),” noted Baity. “This time we controlled the entire game.”
