Faced with a pressure situation that would humble most young players, West Forsyth standouts Alex Weber and Garrison Kinney stood strong last week, delivering in a big way at the finals of the Central Piedmont Conference high school tennis championships. After losing the first set of the doubles championship match 6-2 to Mount Tabor’s top doubles team, ninth-graders Weber and Kinney battled back to win the second set 6-3. They then proceeded to clinch the title with a narrow 7-5 victory in the third and final set. The win marked the first time Weber and Kinney had been involved in a close match during the tournament. They racked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over a pair of Davie opponents in the semis.
