SWFLL to honor Erik Walker on Friday night Braves player Hunter McLaughlin displays the “EJW” patch that all SWF players will wear this season. - Southwest Forsyth Little League games are being played this week but the true spirit of the call to “Play Ball!” will be embodied in a special season-opening dedication to be held at the Poindexter Field complex at 7 p.m. on Friday night. In honor of former SWF all-star Erik Walker, Southwest Forsyth will rename its boys Junior/Senior division field “Erik James Walker Field.” Walker passed away in a canoeing accident on the New River last October. He was 23 years old and was a member of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays professional baseball organization. “We are glad and honored to have the opportunity to show how much Erik and his family means to our organization,” mentioned Barry Leonard, the Southwest Forsyth league president. “But it’s going to be a very emotional night for all of us...” Subscribe to the Courier, P.O.
