Back on track: Lady Titans regain WS/FC crown

By Chris Mackie - On a mission to prove that last year’s result was an anomaly and not the new norm, West Forsyth dominated area competition in last week’s Winston-Salem/Forsyth County high school softball tournament.
West, which had won eight city-county titles in a row prior to last year’s championship loss to Reagan, outscored their tourney opponents 32-7 over a three-day period to reclaim the WS/FC crown.
Building on the momentum created during earlyround wins over Reynolds and East Forsyth, the Titans jumped out to a big lead against Glenn and then held off the Bobcats to claim a 6-4 win in the championship game.
Afterwards, Kevin Baity gave credit to Glenn for its late-inning rally and to his Titans for nailing down the win.
“Glenn has a very good team and they battled us all the way to the last out,” he explained. “But I’m proud that our girls stayed focused and got the win.
