That will not be the case this Friday night. Prior to the start of the West Forsyth-North Davidson varsity baseball game at West, the Titans will dedicate an impressive new scoreboard to Erik Walker, a former Titan star pitcher who drowned while canoeing last winter. It promises to be an emotional event, one that will give the local community its first chance to publicly express its love and appreciation of Erik and his family. The ceremony will take place after the West-North junior varsity game and is expected to begin between 6:30 and 7 p.m. No admission will be charged but donations for the scoreboard will be accepted. “Erik touched so many lives and this tribute will celebrate that,” explains Julie Sanders of the OK West Booster Club. “We want to honor his memory and show how much he and his family mean to us.” Tribute plans began months ago As parents, Larry Walker and Peggy Smith suffered the greatest loss of their lives late last October.
