That could change this spring. Armed with a lineup that features a two-time conference champion, a slew of talented seniors and all but one starter from a team that finished eighth in 4-A play last year, the West boys golf team has all of the ingredients for a special year. “We sure would like to make a run at (the state title),” mentioned Titan head coach Gavin Magaha at Monday’s season-opening match in Greensboro. “We definitely have the talent to do it. When our starters bring their ‘A’ game, we can compete with anyone.” But Magaha knows that focusing too much on what could happen down the road can create serious problems on what is happening at the moment. State titles in golf are anything but a sure thing. “It’s early and we have a very long way to go,” he added with a note of caution. “We have a very skilled group but..."
