Uphill climb: Titans battle against stiff CPC competition West’s Amber Miller shoots for two during a CPC matchup against Mount Tabor. By Chris Mackie - In what was otherwise a bleak start to the new year, the West Forsyth girls basketball team pulled out a 52-50 win over East Rowan last Friday to salvage a week of conference play for the Titan varsity teams. Morgan Smith poured in 15 points and Tishia Henderson added 11 more as the Lady Titans evened their conference record at 2-2. Toni Bolar and Elizabeth Maas added eight points each. Coming off of a 63-46 loss to CPC leader Mount Tabor, the win kept the Titans in the middle of the conference standings. Unfortunately, the same did not happen for the West boys varsity. The Titans surrendered a 16-point lead and fell to Mount Tabor 88-79 early in the week. They were knocked off by frontrunning East Rowan 86-64 on Friday night.
