West falls to Glenn in Garber play

West returning guard Toni Bolar pushes the ball upcourt against the Glenn Bobcats.
By Chris Mackie - West Forsyth’s recent quest for a girls varsity basketball title in the Mary Garber Holiday Classic ended abruptly with a setback to the Glenn Bobcats.
West, which also lost to the Bobcats in last year’s annual season-opening Winston-Salem/Forsyth County tournament, fell behind early and trailed by double figures for much of the second half.
Led by returning players Elizabeth Maas, Amber Miller, Toni Bolar and Allison Lunsford, the Lady Titans will look for nonconference victories at Carver on Tuesday and at home against Winston-Salem Prep Academy on Friday night.
The Lady Titans are coached by Keith Pinnix.
• In boys varsity play, a loss to Kinston on Saturday evened the Titan record at 1-1.
Returning center Kyle Boardman paced the Titan offensive attack with 14 points. Justin Johnson, Travaughn Long and Andrew Bodenheimer followed with seven points apiece. David Morgan added five.
