West boys win 9-10 swim meet

Titan swimmer Andrew Kibler competes in a high school meet for 9th and 10th graders.
- The West Forsyth boys opened with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay and never looked back as they dominated the fourth annual WSSU Invitational 9-10 swim meet.
“We have some great older kids but this (win) shows how strong our younger swimmers are,” said coach Tim Combs after West posted 157 points, the top score in an 11-team field. “Winning a meet of this size bodes well for the future.”
Reagan finished second with 90 points.
Individually, West received first place performances from Tony Chen, Harrison Kuebler and Christian Jones. West also swept the relay events. Relay team members included: 200 medley - Jones, Kuebler, Chen, John Greer; 200 free - Chen, Kuebler, Andrew Kibler, John Suggs; 400 free - Jones, Suggs, Justin Ray, Chris Carleton.
In girls competition, West placed fifth overall.
Laurel Varnell and Meredith Riddle led the Titans with two second-place finishes each.
