Soccer team suffers tough losses to Demons, Knights

Titan Adam Abbruzzese takes a shot during the match against Reynolds.
- Looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 1-0 loss to the Reynolds Demons, the West Forsyth boys varsity soccer team instead ran into more trouble at North Davidson on Monday night.
The Black Knights, who fell to West three weeks ago, scored goals in each half to down the Titans 2-1.
The Knights got on the board early, taking a 1-0 advantage 10 minutes into the match.
In the second half, West tallied the equalizer on an unassisted goal by Adam Abbruzzese at the 84-minute mark.
But a little over a minute later, the Knights were rewarded a penalty kick and turned the opportunity into the game-winning goal.
Both teams are now 4-4 in Central Piedmont Conference play. West, 7-7-2 overall, will continue conference play at home against Mount Tabor on Thursday night. The Titans were also scheduled to play a nonconference match at Reagan on Tuesday.
