Murder charge filed

- A Maryland fugitive has been charged with murdering a woman who was found badly burned in a car on Holder Road in Clemmons last Thursday, November 16.
Scott Robert Speakman, 27, who identified himself to authorities as Max Nietzshe, has been charged with murdering Loyola Manalo Strader, 63. Her body was burned beyond recognition and found in a car in a ditch on Holder Road, just off Lewisville-Clemmons Road.
An investigation was begun by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department and the Forsyth County Fire Marshal. Investigators collected surveillance video from a nearby business along Holder Road which provided substantial assistance in identifying a suspect.
On the evening of November 16, investigators charged a person claiming to be Max Nietzshe, 33, with burning of personal property and simple possession of marijuana. He was confined to the Forsyth County Detention Center with bond secured in the amount of $50,000.
On Friday as the investigation continued, investigators determined the man’s true identity. Speakman is a wanted fugitive from Maryland for failing to register as a sex offender and probation violation. Speakman was convicted in Maryland in 1995 of second degree rape, sodomy, battery, and child abuse involving an 18-month old child.
Speakman was sentenced to prison in Maryland and was released in June 2006. Since his release, he failed to register as a sex offender and violated his probation.
The preliminary autopsy report indicates Strader died as a result of strangulation and blunt force trauma. Investigators have charged Speakman with the murder of Strader and he is confined to the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond allowed. He has a preliminary hearing on December 8.
Anyone with any information about the homicide investigation is requested to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 727-2112 or Crimestoppers at (336) 727-2800.
