Construction zone to greet
students when West opens

By Elizabeth Crews

-
Students returning to West Forsyth High School in the fall will be greeted by faculty, fellow students…and chain link fences.
Another construction project is well under way on the campus, aimed at renovating the nine of the school’s 11 main buildings. And although the construction will likely last the entire school year, the inconvenience will surely be worth the upgraded classrooms and facilities that will result.
Because of the magnitude of the renovations- most of the buildings are being completely gutted- classes cannot be held in the buildings being worked on. To accommodate the displaced classes, two multi-classroom pods have been installed on the old practice football field.
Only two buildings are being worked on at once. Currently, the 100 and 200 buildings are hollow shells of their former selves, as workers install new windows and doors, restrooms, lighting, and heating and air systems.
