Lewisville Library groundbreaking set for July 27th

- The Forsyth County Public Library will break ground on the new, 15,000-square foot Branch Library for the Lewisville community on Thursday, July 27 at 11:30 a.m.
The ceremony will be held on the corner of Shallowford Road and Lucy Lane, site of the new building. The current 4,000-square foot facility is located directly across the street in the Lewisville Plaza Shopping Center.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony. Brief remarks from members of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and the Forsyth County Public Library Board of Trustess will precede the official groundbreaking.
Refreshments will be served.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the current library.
The revised site plan for the new library received unanimous approval from the Town Council at last week’s meeting. The new plan reflects an additional 15 feet of land donated by the town to Forsyth County to improve access, parking and traffic flow on the site.
Planning for the new branch has been ongoing for over a decade. In November 2005, County Commissioners approved $3.4 million to fund the project.
The one-story brick and stone building was designed by the Winston-Salem architectural firm of Calloway Johnson Moore West. When completed, it will be more than three times the size of the current facility.
