Village studies connector

John Byrd is the chairman of the new chamber of commerce.
by Dwight Sparks - The possibility of a connector road between Peace Haven and Styers Ferry Road was presented at a public workshop in West Forsyth High School library November 13.
This east-west road is part of a feasibility study by the Winston-Salem Metropolitan Planning Organization. The MPO has employed Kimley-Horn Associates to conduct the study.
Some 30 residents came to the workshop to see projected routes on maps, and also to offer alternative plans for the connector street, which would be designed to help traffic flow in the Clemmons area on an east to west route.
Clemmons Mayor-elect John Bost and members of the Clemmons Fire Department attended the meeting.
A spokesman and planner for Kimley-Horn Associates, Michael Rutkowski, said the MPO is responsible for transportation planning and decision-making for Winston-Salem and this region. “The MPO decides where gas tax money is allocated,” said Rutkowski.
