Lewisville Council awards design contract for new municipal building

The Lewisville Town Council is moving forward with its plans for a new municipal building.
At its regular monthly meeting on February 8, council voted 6-0 (Councilman Dr. Ken Sadler was absent) to approve a contract with Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects, PA for architectural services in the design of the building. Mayor Tom Lawson pointed out that the town successfully negotiated with the firm to reduce the contract’s cost from $20,000 to $15,000.
The contract also states that if the project moves forward, the town will pay 5.5 percent of the estimated cost of construction noted at $110,000 for other services related to the project.
According to the current proposal, the three-story, 15,000 square foot facility will house the new Town Hall. The second level will consist of the main entrance lobby, staff offices, meeting rooms and support spaces. The lower level will contain council chambers, support spaces and storage.
