Kim didn’t pick State to win, but she did do better than anybody else last week, missing five games to grab the first place cash and extending her walk among the contest giants in recent weeks.

Our contest guru had no trouble with Carolina troubles.
“Anytime they lose is a good day,” said the former Volunteer kicker. “I’m a Tennessee man and a Wake Forest man.”
As for the contest cash he’ll be receiving, he has plans.
“I will take my kids out to Marble Slab Creamery, and maybe I’ll have one too.”
He missed six games.
Now for our coveted non cash awards:

FOOTBALL AWARD: To those missing the most, Ali Madigan, dropping 13 of 18; honorable mention to Megan Painter, dropping 12.
WOLFPACK RED AWARD: To true-believer Rob Sipprell, who didn’t let the betting line separate him from State.
ORIENTATION AWARD: To David Foster of Ft. Worth, Texas, who entered with, “West is Best ... I think that is how it goes.”

• This from Doug Hill, “Looks like the football ‘luck’ has followed me into the basketball season. Fortunately this is just a game ... not! I remain just out of the running every week. I need a mentor to help me through this drama in my life ... but will settle for the Call of Calls.”
• Joanne Clark of Melbourne, Fla., “Today things were put into perspective for a lot of Gator fans, me included. The high one gets when your teams are ranked Number 1 just doesn’t mean a thing after seeing the devastation Florida suffered today when tornadoes steamrolled through the center of the state. Don and I were spared, but many, many people were not. Please join me in prayers for those who lost it all.”

• Martin E. Brooks of Charlotte, “I’m so glad to finally come in out of the cold winter of my discontent, trying week after week through football season and failing to climb to the mountain top. I will arrive this week, I promise.”
